480 busted in joint operation Paseka

Several suspects arrested for various crimes.

Joint operation Paseka, which included police and other law enforcement authorities, paid dividends between April 15 and 18.

Captain Nelda Sekgobela, SAPS Ekurhuleni district communications officer, said the operation had positive results, with a total of 480 people apprehended for various crimes.

The suspects were arrested for offences including kidnapping, business robbery, theft, and sexual assault.

“The accomplishments were achieved by increased police visibility on the roads, stop-and-search operations and compliance checks at liquor stores and second-hand goods retailers.”

Acting district commissioner Brig Lebohang Machakela praised the law enforcers for their efforts in ensuring the safety of the residents.
