“The property found during the investigation include a Tshwane Metro Police Department bulletproof vest, a stolen generator and a cellphone,” said Matimulane.
Matimulane said the first suspect was arrested and has been charged with illegal possession of a bulletproof vest and impersonating a police officer.
“Witnesses came forward and made statements against this man. He was seen allegedly mugging people while wearing this vest,” added Matimulane.
The second and third suspects were linked in regard to the rest of the stolen items.
“The second suspect was arrested for robbery and business burglary. The second suspect sold the items to the third suspect, who was then arrested for possession of a stolen generator and cell phone,” said Matimulane.
“People buying stolen property are creating a flourishing environment for the criminals to continue with their wayward ways. This must stop,” said Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, the station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS.
