The race will take place on Father’s Day on June 19.
For this challenge, Wellington Mpofu of the Radisson Hotel Group will be challenged by his son, Lesley Mpofu.
Wellington has run over 88 marathons around the globe.
The challenge is not limited to biological fathers and sons but also encompasses mentors, spiritual fathers, role models or any father figure in one’s life.
The physical race will take place at the Radisson Hotel and Convention Centre in Kempton Park and will also be run virtually across the globe.

There is an entrance fee for both virtual and physical iterations and donations are also open if you would like to contribute to the cause.
The invitation is open to fathers of all ages, and strollers are welcome, too.
This challenge transcends just running and anyone, anywhere, can participate virtually, no matter what the sporting code.
Fathers can compete against their sons in sports such as golfing, cycling, swimming and more.
This event encourages fathers and sons to use their talents to drive social change, while also engaging the running community in a project bigger than running – changing lives.
During the challenge, fathers and sons will be competing to raise funds for students who are unable to afford university tuition fees.
All proceeds will go towards an educational fund for two Rhodes University students – towards their tuition, accommodation, and personal care needs.
The event is also a celebration of the important role that fathers play in society.
