According to Rabie Ridge Police Station Sergeant Dipolelo Moremi, the community was called to engage and strategise how they can aid the police in apprehending wanted offenders.

“They are known by the community and we called on residents to assist the police.

“Unregulated shebeens and gambling spots were also discussed as these places are a source of crime.

“The police and the community should have a positive connection.

“The community expects the police department to protect and serve and the police department, in turn, relies on the community’s support and collaboration to be effective.

“Tensions between the community and the police rise as communication and confidence degrade, undermining their common aim of safer communities.

“The goal is for the community and the police to improve their relations in order to make their community crime-free,” said Moremi.
