“The visit to the mall and the surrounding areas was part of an ongoing effort by the police to create awareness around domestic violence and drug abuse – two of the social ills prevalent in Ivory Park,” said Ivory Park SAPS spokesperson, Captain Ben Matimulane.

Matimulane said during the campaign, pamphlets were distributed and the officers spoke to the public on a one-on-one basis.

He said as part of the outreach, the community was informed of the services available at the Ivory Park SAPS aimed at assisting the victims of domestic violence and the services providers dealing with drug abuse.

“Furthermore, the community was encouraged to report drug dealers and abusers in their areas and to complain about any form of police misconduct,” said Matimulane.
