It was previously reported that the bus that allegedly hit the man did not stop.

According to Captain Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, the deceased is from Western Cape.

“It seems that the man had travelled to Gauteng from Western Cape for a celebration,” said Mtshali.

“He travelled with some of his colleagues to Kempton Park for a celebration where certificates were issued. It is understood the event was organised by their company and held at Dries Niemandt Park on July 7.

“It is also alleged that the deceased and his friends went to Panthers VIP lounge following the celebrations at Dries Niemandt Park.”

Mtshali added that the man didn’t arrive at the accommodation that was booked for them on the night of July 7.

“The person who was organising the trip then reported the deceased missing,” explained Mtshali.

“It is not yet known what led to the deceased travelling to Braambos Street and which mode of transport was used.

“It is also alleged that some of his belongings including his cellphone were with his friends. The driver of the bus that hit him was also traced.

“The driver was issued with a summons to appear at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on culpable homicide and hit-and-run charges on July 18.”

Mtshali said due to ill health the suspect was not detained.
