Warrant Officer Chaplain PP Ntshavheni mentioned that Tamar’s mission in the SAPS is to show God’s compassion and justice to women, children, and anyone else who experiences indignity and violation due to sexual and domestic violence, which includes GBV and femicide.

“Tamar’s campaign aims to raise awareness of GBV in our township, with an emphasis on sexual and domestic violence in particular and to encourage churches to take action.

“The church has the power and ability to meet the needs of both those who have been abused and those who are abusers.

The church is uniquely positioned to play a significant role in the prevention and elimination of various forms of violence against women and children.

“The goal of the campaign is to strengthen church networking and collaboration with the SAPS, social development organizations, health care providers and educational institutions to address the issue of GBV, sexual violence and domestic abuse.

“It also aims to inspire the church to speak out and to encourage victims to open cases of abuse against women and children,” said Ntshavheni.
