Building bridges to better lives for the community members.

To increase the safety of both drivers and pedestrians on the road, two community members, Thabiso Mainenja and Vincent Tixo from Zone 1 View, have built a footbridge for the community.

According to one of the constructors, Tixo, after the previous bridge was damaged by flooding, the locals decided to take matters into their own hands by constructing a new footbridge.

The newly built footbridge.

“Instead of waiting for our municipality to act, we decided to take action because as community members, we noticed how difficult it was for the locals to traverse the broken bridge.

“We worked hard to guarantee that local inhabitants would have access to a footbridge, which is crucial since it will offer a quicker path to other routes.

“We think the bridge will make it easier for them to contact emergency services and the police quickly.”

According to Tixo, despite having fewer resources and financing, they were still able to construct a footbridge.

“We undoubtedly wished that we had some assistance during the construction process. Our primary obstacle was a lack of funding to construct a quality bridge, but we were devoted to making this project a success for our community.

“We hope we made our community proud with this one and are grateful for the opportunity to make our community better,” said Tixo.
