Youngster dies after struck by car near Birch Acres Mall

The case of Culpable homicide was opened at Rabasotho police station, and the driver will appear at the Thembisa magistrate court soon.

A 23-year-old man died after he was hit by a car close to Birch Acres Mall on June 23.

According to EMPD media liaison officer Marie Mashishi, the EMPD Thembisa Precinct received a call from their control room regarding the incident.

When officers arrived, they found the man laying on the road.

Paramedics were contacted and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“According to reports, the deceased was struck by a white BMW SUV as he crossed the street from Birch Acres Mall into Phomolong.

“A case of culpable homicide was opened at the Rabasotho Police Station.

“No arrests have been made, however, investigations are underway,” said Mashishi.
