Learners and staff at Hoërskool Kempton Park were evacuated to the school field this morning following a bomb threat.

Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Dipuo Ditshego confirmed that police are standing off at the scene.

“Various specialised units have been dispatched to the school. We are waiting for the bomb squad to confirm a threat or if this is a hoax.”

According to her all the children and staff at the school have been marked as safe.

Several roads surrounding the school are closed and residents are urged to avoid the area while a search and investigation is underway.

Parents are advised not to rush to the school.
