Two arrested after cyclist is killed in R25 robbery

It is believe that an unknown number of suspects robbed a group of cyclists shooting and killing one person.

Two suspects were apprehended following a robbery on the R25 in which a cyclist was shot and killed this morning (November 18).

Information shared with the Kempton Express suggests five suspects robbed the victim as well as his 18-year-old son and another cyclist of their bicycles.

According to Ekurhuleni SAPS district spokesperson, Captain Nelda Sekgobela, during the robbery shots were fired and one of the cyclists sustained a fatal wound to his chest.

Further details surrounding the incident are unknown.

In information received earlier today by the Kempton Express it was revealed that officers from the EMPD chased down and arrested two of the suspects involved in the robbery.

The Kempton Express attempted to obtain confirmation of information and details of the incident from the Kempton Park SAPS which referred us to Crystal Park SAPS.

Crystal Park SAPS informed the Kempton Express that the Olifantsfontein SAPS would be handing the matter and the station should be contacted for details.

At the time of publication the Olifantsfontein SAPS spokesperson could not be reached and further information or confirmation of details could not be obtained.
