123 suspects nabbed during SAPS operations

The 43 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with eight arrests for the possession of the vehicles.

From May 3 to 9, officers from Rapid Response Services, comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng, arrested 123 suspects, recovered 43 motor vehicles and 15 firearms.

Officers participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 64 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, murder, business robbery, housebreaking, possession of housebreaking implements, kidnapping as well as attempted, extortion, theft, possession of suspected stolen property, robbery and counterfeit goods.

The 43 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with eight arrests for the possession of the vehicles.

A total of 15 unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying 18 arrests.

In further policing, 33 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.
Investigations will continue in to all cases.
