THIRD Brazilian drug mule caught at OR Tambo

The 21-year-old had travelled from São Paulo. A medical examination confirmed the presence of foreign objects in his stomach.

Yesterday, December 3, yet another drug mule was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport following his arrival in South Africa on a flight from São Paulo.

SAPS crime intelligence was following up on information when the 21-year-old man was intercepted after landing just after 12:20.

The drug mule was taken to a local hospital where a medical x-ray confirmed the presence of foreign objects in his stomach.

The process to release these foreign objects was started and the SAPS confirmed that plastic-covered cocaine ‘bullets’ were being released by the suspect.

The suspect will appear before the Kempton Park Magistrates Court on a charge of drug possession and trafficking before the end of this week.

On November 28 a 44-year-old Brazilian woman was arrested and found with R1.9m worth of cocaine strapped to her body.

On November 24 a 25-year-old man from Brazil was also arrested at OR Tambo International Airport with R1.8m worth of cocaine strapped to his body.
