Police arrest another drug mule at OR Tambo International Airport

The 55-year-old Nigerian national will face charges in the Kempton Park Magistrates' Court later this week police confirmed.

A 55-year-old Nigerian national was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport on March 4 for drug trafficking, the SAPS confirmed.

The suspect had just arrived from São Paulo, Brazil, when authorities intercepted him.

A medical X-ray later revealed that he had ingested multiple packets, suspected to contain cocaine.

“The suspect is still in the process of releasing the ingested packets and will face charges in the Kempton Park Magistrates’ Court later this week,” said Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk.

This arrest comes just weeks after police apprehended two South African drug mules at the same airport, seizing cocaine worth an estimated R7.5 million.
