EMPD nets large haul of drugs across the City of Ekurhuleni
"The confiscated substances were estimated to have a combined street value of R22,800."
The EMPD’s Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) confiscated illegal substances valued at over R22 800 in the City of Ekurhuleni between January 12 and 16.
“As part of an ongoing effort to clean the City’s streets of illegal drugs and ensure community safety, DEU officers conducted targeted operations across various areas within the metro,” said EMPD spokesperson Chief Superintendent Kelebogile Thepa.
“During these operations, eight male suspects and two female suspects were arrested.”

The suspects were found in possession of various illegal substances, including cat, dagga, crystal meth, and Mandrax. The combined street value of the confiscated drugs was estimated at R22 800.
All suspects, facing charges of possession and dealing in illicit substances, were taken to different police stations and are expected to appear in the relevant Magistrate’s Courts soon.
“The EMPD remains committed to combating drug-related crimes and urges community members to continue working with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activities,” Thepa added.
