EMPD Northern Region cracks down on scholar transport violations

The EMPD Northern Region, in collaboration with the Gauteng Traffic Police, conducted scholar transportation operations across the Northern Region between January 26 and 30.

The operations focused on assessing driver and vehicle fitness, roadworthiness of scholar transport vehicles, and compliance with scholar transportation regulations.

Officers visited several schools during the operation, including Eastleigh Primary School, Madibatlou Middle School, Entshonalanga Primary School, Sir Pierre van Ryneveld High School, Norkem Park High School, Phomolong High School and Mooifontein Primary School.

The EMPD conducted scholar transportation operations between January 26 and 30.

During the operation, the following outcomes were recorded:
• One drunk driving arrest
• 173 traffic fines issued
• 20 motor vehicles impounded
• Three motor vehicles discontinued

EMPD confirmed that scholar transportation operations will continue in the Northern Region until full compliance with the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996 is achieved.
