CPF patroller shot during armed robbery in Kempton Park West

Police responded swiftly, and through coordinated efforts, one suspect was apprehended in Chloorkop shortly after the incident.

Norkem Park SAPS is investigating a case of armed robbery and attempted murder following a shooting incident in Kempton Park West on February 26 at approximately 20:00.

It is alleged that a group of about 20 suspects committed a robbery in the area.

“During the incident, a CPF patroller who responded to the scene was shot. The patroller was immediately transported to hospital for medical treatment and remains under medical care,” said Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant DP Mkhondo.

A second victim, a tenant at the premises, was also shot and sustained injuries. The victim received medical treatment and is reported to be in a stable condition.

“Police responded swiftly, and through coordinated efforts, one suspect was apprehended in Chloorkop shortly after the incident.

“The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to appear in court on charges related to armed robbery and attempted murder,” said Mkhondo.

Investigations are ongoing to trace and arrest the remaining suspects.

The Station Commander of Norkem Park SAPS, Colonel Nelly Maunatlala, strongly condemned the violent actions of the suspects and commended the swift response by police members and community stakeholders.
