Thembisa court hands 10-year sentence in love triangle murder case
A murder case stemming from a love triangle has resulted in a 10-year prison sentence, bringing closure to the victim’s family.
Thembisa SAPS station commander Brigadier Cyril Nkuna has welcomed the sentence handed down to murder accused Walter Mgwadleka.
The sentence follows a murder case reported at Thembisa Police Station in 2023.
According to police, the incident stemmed from a love triangle.
Mgwadleka allegedly became jealous after his former partner ended their relationship and began seeing 66-year-old Themba Mbuyisa.
It is reported that Mgwadleka confronted the victim while he was with the woman and fatally stabbed him at the gate of her residence.

The case was assigned to Warrant Officer Ronnie Rabedzwana, who led the investigation and effected the arrest of the 39-year-old suspect.
Following multiple court appearances and testimony from various witnesses, Magistrate Marley Mahlangu found Mgwadleka guilty of murder.
He was sentenced to 10 years’ direct imprisonment without the option of a fine.
Rabedzwana expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating that the victim’s family had received the justice and closure they needed.
