EMPD arrests suspect with R84 000 worth of suspected stolen goods

The suspect was found in possession of three expensive phones with no documentation to support ownership.

EMPD’s Eastern Region Task Team officers arrested a 38-year-old male suspect for possession of suspected stolen property valued at R84 000 in Kempton Park on March 25.

While officers were driving in Kempton Park, they were stopped by a concerned member of the public who gave them a tip-off about a male in possession of suspected stolen goods.

The information was followed, and the male matching the description given was spotted.

At the sight of the officers, the man became anxious.

The officers found three phones, valued at R84 000, in his possession. As they asked for the receipts or any form of ownership, he could not produce anything.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the Kempton Park police station and will soon appear before the relevant Magistrate’s court.
