The suspect linked to the Rabie Ridge shooting that left three people dead earlier today has been found after allegedly turning the gun on himself.

According to preliminary reports, the suspect fled the scene and later abandoned and set alight the vehicle he had used to escape. The burnt vehicle was discovered between Ivory Park and Tembisa.

According to Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi it is believed that the suspect then hijacked a Toyota Avanza.

“The driver reportedly activated a tracking device, enabling authorities to trace the vehicle.”

“Members of the K9 unit and tracking team located the vehicle on the N14 near Diepsloot. When officers attempted to stop him, the suspect allegedly shot himself,” said Nevhuhulwi.

A case of hijacking has also been opened.

The SAPS is yet to confirm details regarding the whereabouts and safety of the child who was reportedly taken by the suspect earlier.
