Gauteng police arrest 56 suspects and recover 28 stolen vehicles in six-day operation

Officers also seized seven firearms and confiscated various drugs, including heroin, cocaine and crystal methamphetamine.

Police Emergency Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng, arrested 56 suspects and recovered 28 motor vehicles and seven firearms between April 24 and 29.

Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 20 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, possession of suspected stolen property, house break-in, contravention of a protection order, theft, tampering with essential infrastructure and illegal immigrants.

They recovered 28 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles with five arrests for the possession of these vehicles. Seven firearms were recovered, accompanied by five arrests.

In further policing, 26 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Heroin, dagga, Cat (cocaine), Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigations continue in these cases.
