Suspect arrested following fatal shooting in Van Riebeeck Park
Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Portia Mkhondo said the motive for the shooting has not yet been established.
A 34-year-old man has died after he was allegedly shot by a family member at a property in Van Riebeeck Park this morning.
According to information from the SAPS, officers were patrolling the Norkem Park area at about 10:17 when they were alerted to a shooting by an employee at the property.
When police arrived, they found six spent cartridges and blood at the scene. The victim had already been transported by relatives to Arwyp Medical Centre, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the alleged suspect, who is known to the victim and believed to be a family member, arrived at the property in Van Riebeeck Park and allegedly called the victim outside before opening fire,” said Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Portia Mkhondo.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his left arm, near his chest, and upper body.
Mkhondo confirmed that a murder case has been opened and that a suspect has since been arrested.
The motive for the shooting has not yet been established, and police investigations are continuing.
No further details have been released at this stage.
