Police arrest alleged drug trafficker, seize R800 000 cocaine at OR Tambo
A 45-year-old man was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport after police allegedly found 2kg of cocaine in his luggage.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has arrested another alleged drug trafficker at OR Tambo International Airport and seized about 2kg of cocaine worth more than R800 000.
The suspect was intercepted on September 7 following intelligence-led information. According to a police statement, he was allegedly en route to Hong Kong, China, when police arrested him at the airport.
A subsequent search of his luggage resulted in the seizure of drugs suspected to be cocaine.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court this week on drug-related charges.
The arrest comes four days after a 54-year-old alleged drug mule was arrested at the same airport on September 3.
The suspect was also allegedly travelling to Hong Kong, China, when he was arrested after cocaine was found concealed inside his luggage.
According to the statement, the successive arrests demonstrate its continued efforts to disrupt and dismantle drug-trafficking networks through intelligence-driven operations at the country’s ports of entry.
