Load-rotation for numerous Kempton Park suburbs
At least twenty areas of Kempton Park area will be affected as result of this issue.
The Energy Department announced that certain areas in Kempton Park had their electricity turned off on August 3 for load-rotation purposes.
Areas affected include Van Riebeeck Park, Edleen, Terenure, Birch Acres, Kempton Park West, Norkem Park, Glen Marais, Witfontein, and portions of Birchleigh.
The energy loads between Van Riebeeck and Glen Marais 66kV substations, according to Freedom Front’s Jean Kriek, cannot be supported.
Kriek said according to the CoE energy team “the 66kV cable between Cargo and main supply substations is suspected to have a breakdown.

Desmond Mckenzie, a councilor for Ward 91, reported that this was because there had been major theft and vandalism on the 66 kV network cable infrastructure during load shedding, as well as an attempted theft on the infrastructure of our main substation.
Kempton Park will be performing load rotation on the following areas:
• Kempton Park West
• Kempton Park Ext 1-5
• Birch Acres Ext 1 – 24
• Birchleigh
• Terenure
• Van Reebieck Park
• Kempton Park Central
• Rhodesfield
• Sky Park
• In2 Food
• Edleen
• Norkem Park
• Parts of Birchleigh
• Glen Marais
• Glen Eagle
• Aston Manor
• Nimrod Park
• Allen Grove
• Bonaero Park
• Parts of Pomona.
“We will make every attempt to restore electricity as soon as possible, and we won’t stop working until the system is back to normal,” McKenzie added.
