Children discover a rifle in Thembisa’s informal settlement

Five children from Thembisa’s Madelakufa informal settlement found an R4 rifle on July 30 while playing in the reeds.

According to Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the Ekurhuleni District communications officer, children carried a gun covered in a white fitted sheet to the police station.

“The rusted rifle had one empty magazine and was marked Israel Military LTD M392 without a serial number,” said Sekgobela.

An enquiry has been opened and investigation continues.
