Laerskool Birchleigh celebrates cross-country athletes
Junior Mwa clinched first place, securing a gold medal.
The D17 cross-country event on August 23 at Curro Serengeti witnessed remarkable performances from a group of dedicated young athletes.
The event showcased their unwavering determination and commitment to the sport, resulting in many top achievements.
Among the notable accomplishments were those of Laerskool Birchleigh learners Junior Mwa and Tumi Seroka.
Junior Mwa secured a position of prominence as he clinched first place, getting a gold medal.

His performance not only brought pride to his school but affirmed his potential as a rising star in cross-country running.
Tumi Seroka got a third-place finish. Tumi’s accomplishment has earned her the honour of representing the school’s name at the upcoming Gauteng Championships.
Junior, despite his victory, cannot represent the school at the Gauteng Championships due to age restrictions.
The success of these athletes would not have been possible without the relentless guidance and support of their coaches Karabo Makofane, Suzette Ayres, Nadia van der Merwe and André Kluyts.

The athletes who made up the D17 team include Omphile Molala, Sello Sebake, Ayaama Shabangu, Tristan Adamczuk, Rea Phungwayo, Junior Mwa, and Tumi Seroka.
