100 suspects nabbed by rapid response officers

Between September 22 and 28, Rapid Response Services arrested 100 suspects for crimes such as carjacking, common robbery and shoplifting.

Rapid Response Services comprising the Flying Squad, K9 units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 100 suspects, recovering 31 vehicles and 11 firearms between September 22 and 28.

The members participated in concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 50 arrests for serious crimes, including assault common and GBH, possession of car-breaking implements, pointing of a firearm, possession of house-breaking implements, common and armed robbery, malicious damage to property, carjacking, theft, possession of suspected stolen property and shoplifting.

Law enforcers recovered 31 hijacked and stolen vehicles, with 22 arrests for possession of these vehicles.

They recovered 11 unlicensed firearms and made 12 arrests.

In further policing, 16 arrests were made for possession of and dealing in drugs.

The members confiscated heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal meth in these separate incidents.
Investigations continue in these cases.

The suspects will appear in the local Magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
