The organisers believed that through this expressive and captivating dance form, they could effectively convey their message and create a positive impact on the lives of young people.

The event attracted participants from all walks of life, ranging from students and parents to community leaders and local organisations.

Dressed in colourful and stylish attire, the dancers took to the streets, showcasing their impressive moves and spreading a powerful message of solidarity against drugs and alcohol.

Heritage Day, which is celebrated annually in South Africa, provided the ideal backdrop for this event.

It allowed the community to not only address the pressing issue of substance abuse but also to celebrate their rich cultural heritage.

By combining these two important themes, the organisers sought to instil a sense of pride and belonging among the participants.

However, organising such an event requires substantial resources, and the organisers were in need of sponsorship to make it a success.

“We approached J Malatji, the esteemed owner of Kalabase Butcher, in the hopes that he would lend his support to this worthy cause.

“The butcher owner has been actively involved in various charitable initiatives in the past.

“His commitment to giving back and uplifting the community has earned him a reputation as a generous and compassionate individual.

“We believed that his sponsorship would not only provide the financial backing necessary for logistics and event management but also serve as a testament to his dedication to the betterment of the community and we would like to thank him,” said Bhanzela, one of the organisers.
