Two illegal businesses shut down by EMPD

According to EMPD spokesperson Kelebogile Thepa, two illegally operated businesses were shut down in the Cloverdene area.

EMPD’s Bronberg precinct officers and City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) officials conducted a by-laws enforcement operation on October 4.

Thepa stated that EMPD officers went back to the businesses that had previously received written notices to see if improvements, better working conditions and safety measures had been put in place.

“Officers first went to Harry Gwala Road, where they found two businesses, an automotive and a gas filling workshop that were using municipal land without adhering to any of the advice that had been given.

“The liable owners, they claim, spoke with a ward councillor who gave them permission to use the area.”

When asked about who it was, they were unable to back up their claims. As a result, their businesses were shut down immediately.
