Ivory Park man hands himself into police following wife’s death

The suspect is currently being held in custody at the Ivory Park SAPS cells, pending his next court appearance at the Tembisa Magistrate's Court.

A 44-year-old man has turned himself in to the authorities following the death of his wife during a heated argument.

According to Ekurhuleni district media liaison officer Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the couple, who were both under the influence of alcohol, engaged in a prolonged dispute that ultimately turned fatal.

“The argument between the couple escalated throughout the day, with no signs of reduction.

“Concerned neighbours intervened, attempting to restore peace, but their efforts proved futile as the couple continued to fight.

“Eventually the couple retired to bed, unaware of the tragic turn of events that awaited them.

“The following morning, the man woke up to a devastating discovery. His wife was unresponsive and in a state of rigor mortis.

“Distraught and overwhelmed by the gravity of the situation, he immediately sought out a neighbour to confess and seek guidance.

“Recognising the severity of the situation, the neighbour advised him to turn himself in to the authorities,” said Sekgobela.

The suspect is currently being held in custody at the Ivory Park SAPS cells, pending his next court appearance at the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court.

He will face a murder charge related to the death of his wife.
