Residents of Olivewood roll up sleeves for a clean-up
Residents of Olivewood Village South held a clean-up operation around their area as they feel neglected by the municipality.

The community of Olivewood Village South held a clean-up operation around their area.
The community decided to roll up their sleeves and make an effort to make sure their area is clean as they feel neglected by the City of Ekurhuleni.
Residents said the reason why the municipality does not clean their area might be because it is a new development on the outskirts of Kempton Park.

Councillor Mike da Silva was invited to join the clean-up but could not attend as he had other commitments.
Resident and trustee of Olivewood, JP Marais, said the project wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the sponsors.
“We do not receive assistance from the municipality,” he said.
He added that community projects like this help communities get to know each other better and it is a sign that when they stand together, they can make a difference.
“As trustees, we agreed that should we not receive any help from the municipality, we will continue with this project every first weekend of every month.”
The project was sponsored by Gozone Water, EBS Security, Wanna Build, Smack Pizza Co, Awkward Finance Solutions and Symbion Group.
