Rotary Community Corp launch in Thembisa

The Ga Rona Community Development Centre, a gender-based violence group based in Zone 6, Winnie Mandela, collaborated with the Rotary Club of Johannesburg to launch the Thembisa Rotary Community Corp (RCC), marking a major advancement in tackling urgent social issues.

The opening ceremony took place at Winnie Mandela Primary School on October 21, highlighting a dedication to addressing challenges including HIV/AIDS, femicide, poverty, unemployment, and gender-based violence in the community.

The Thembisa RCC aims to actively engage with and mitigate the social challenges faced by the Thembisa community.

The Rotary Club of Johannesburg formally established the Thembisa RCC committee, placing it under the leadership of Tebogo Kekana, the newly appointed president of Thembisa RCC.

Kekana, also a board member of the Ga Rona Community Development Centre since October 2023, expressed gratitude for the confidence of the Rotary Club of Johannesburg in the people of Thembisa and Ga Rona CDC.

President Kekana, in his address, urged local businesses, government departments, faith-based organisations, and the entire Thembisa community to rally behind this initiative.

He highlighted the importance of collective effort in tackling the multifaceted challenges faced by the community.

As a gesture of recognition, the Rotary Club of Johannesburg presented Thembisa RCC with a certificate of recognition, acknowledging the collaborative efforts towards community development.
