They went to the address on the M57, where they found five suspects who had allegedly just off-loaded 32 pallets of suspected stolen mayonnaise valued at about R1m.
Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) members arrested five suspects and recovered one firearm, a truck and four truck trailers between November 29 and December 1.
Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, the communications officer at the BFS, said the officers received information from Crime Intelligence about suspects offloading stolen property from a truck in Olifantsfontein at about 21:00 on November 29.
Officers went to the address on the M57, where they found five suspects who had allegedly just off-loaded 32 pallets of suspected stolen mayonnaise valued at about R1m.

Further investigations showed the two truck trailers from which the suspects were off-loading goods were reported robbed on a Diepsloot case.

“All five suspects aged 23 to 58 were arrested, the truck and trailers impounded, while the mayonnaise was handed back to the lawful owner,” said Giblin.
Officers from a relief shift took over the scene on Thursday morning to wait for the tow of suspect vehicles left on the scene.
According to Giblin, the members were alerted to a silver/grey VW Polo identified as a suspect vehicle.
Being locked, it prompted the members to drive to the Olifantsfontein SAPS to search for the keys from the five suspects.
In the prisoners’ property of one suspect, they found the keys that unlocked the Polo at the site.
Members thoroughly searched the vehicle and found below the steering column a 9mm Luger pistol with three live rounds of ammunition.
