Bakkie driver dies in R21 crash
The cause of the crash is still unknown and a case of culpable homicide, has been registered at Kempton park police station and the thorough investigation, is ongoing.
A 43-year-old driver of a light delivery vehicle (LDV) died as a result of his injuries following a collision with a stationary truck on the R21 on January 4.
According to EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, officers from the EMPD’s Freeway Unit responded to a crash on the R21 highway before the Atlas Road off-ramp.
She said on arrival, officers found the motionless body of the driver covered with a space blanket, lying on the edge of the freeway next to the damaged Toyota.

The paramedics were summoned and the driver was certified dead. The truck driver and his crew were unscathed but were treated for shock by medical experts.
