Flying squad catch two suspects and recover two vehicles

Benoni Flying Squad members arrested two suspects and recovered two motor vehicles on October 14.

At around 12:00, Sergeant Jaco Powell and Warrant Officer Jabulani Khumalo received a lookout via a CPF group in Edenvale for a white Ford Bantam that had been hijacked.

As they were proceeding to the area it was reported that the vehicle with one suspect was cornered by security and CPF members on Linksfield Road, Edenvale, after being involved in an accident.

On arrival, the 45-year-old suspect was arrested and detained at Edenvale SAPS.

The same members were contacted at around 18:00 by a Benoni security company to assist on Great North Road, opposite Engen fuel station with a motorcycle whose number plate was flagged as wanted.

Investigation revealed that the motorcycle was displaying a false registration number and licence disc.

The 26-year-old driver was arrested.

In further policing an abandoned hijacked white Hyundai H100 was recovered at Giraffe Street, Villalisa, Boksburg reported on a Germiston case.

Once again the value of close relationships between the SAPS, security companies and the community were proven and resulted in success against crime.

Investigation continues in all cases.

The suspects will be appearing in the Edenvale and Benoni magistrate’s courts facing charges of possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and fraud.
