Links Combined School donates to senior citizens

Links Combined School on November 1 visited the Ndzundza Macingwane Traditional Council in Mcanqtsa to donate food parcels, clothes, and toys to elderly residents in the community.

The elderly, alongside the traditional council, welcomed the school with an uplifting programme.

The donations included essential food items and gifts, with toys intended for the grandchildren of the elderly recipients.
Gugu Ngwenya, whose family donated to the elderly for years, expressed her gratitude and commitment to the initiative.
“We have maintained a wonderful relationship with the royal council and plan to continue this tradition.
“Every year around this time, we unite with the school to provide goods useful to elderly individuals.
“Healthy, nutritious food is critical to keeping them strong,” she said.
Chief Ndzundza Macingwane also shared his appreciation for the school’s consistent generosity.
“It’s an honour to be the trusted partner when the school wants to give back to the community.
“Since 2018, they have approached us annually to support the elderly in need. Their efforts ensure our elders are taken care of.

“This year, we hope to visit the school with the same elders so they can witness the amazing work being done by Links Combined School,” he said.
The school’s principal, Q Moyo, expressed pride in the initiative’s impact.
“Seeing the smiles on the faces of our elderly residents brings immense joy.
“Our efforts are not about seeking recognition, but about showing gratitude and appreciation for the role they have played in shaping us into the adults we are today.
“The goods we brought will support them in their households, and we aim to continue this partnership.
“We also plan to invite them to our school to see how we operate and learn about opportunities to enrol their grandchildren.”
As part of its year-end activities Links Combined School will host an excellence awards ceremony at the end of November.
The school has pledged to invite the elderly women who received donations to join the celebration, marking the close of a successful year.
