Thembisa artist moves up in the world of entertainment
Hailing from Endulwini, Qwabe’s infectious energy and creativity have made him a popular figure in his community and set the stage for his journey into the broader entertainment industry.
At just 29, Thembisa-based artist Vusi Reshumela Qwabe is making waves in the local entertainment scene.
Hailing from Endulwini, Qwabe’s infectious energy and creativity have made him a popular figure in his community and set the stage for his journey into the broader entertainment industry.
Qwabe is the mastermind behind the hit song Yooh Kwenzakalani, a catchy track that has captured the hearts of many in Thembisa.

The phrase “Yooh kwenzakalani?” (“What’s happening?”), was inspired by a moment at his mother’s business. A friend, Zama Mofokeng, a world record holder, jokingly asked him if he had opened a shop.
Qwabe’s response and subsequent reflection on the phrase sparked the creation of a song and a clothing brand under the same name.
“When I was alone, I kept asking myself, ‘Yooh kwenzakalani?’ That’s when I decided to create a brand with the name. Later, I turned it into a song and recorded it in the studio,” Qwabe shared.
The song’s video, featuring dancers from the Endulwini crew, was released last November and has gained traction. It is available on platforms like YouTube, Mp3 Juice and Audiomack, with the music video drawing views on YouTube.
Qwabe credits his family and faith for his success so far.

“I want to thank my mom, dad and church for their prayers and support. My uncle was the first to play my song, and my little brother has been one of my biggest cheerleaders,” he said.
But his ambitions don’t stop at music.
He dreams of doing acting and advertising, hoping to collaborate with producers who can help expand his talents.
In addition to his music, Qwabe pushes his clothing brand, Yooh Kwenzakalani, and is working on an upcoming EP titled Injabulo Yethu (Our Joy), which will connect Pretoria to Thembisa through its sound and spirit.
