Heavy rains have once again resulted in flooding in parts of Kempton Park.

One motorist found themselves stranded on a flooded Vlei Street earlier this afternoon.

Authorities are urging motorists to avoid flooded roadways and to exercise extreme caution when driving in wet conditions.

The EMPD urged motorists to take precautions on the roads with the downpours as road accidents tend to increase.

EMPD safe wet weather driving tips:
• Buckle up
• ⁠Ensure that windshield wipers are working front and back for a clear visibility.
• ⁠Headlights should be on.
• Reduce speed
• Maintain a safe following distance
• ⁠Ensure tyres have a good tread depth
• Avoid applying brakes abruptly as it may cause the motor vehicle to skid or lose control
• ⁠Avoid water puddles, low lying bridges and lookout for potholes
• Drivers should apply patience leading to vehicle pile-up or traffic congestion
• Avoid using a cell phone while driving.
