Police bust 81 suspects in Gauteng operations
Officers participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.
Between February 21 and February 2, Rapid Response Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 81 suspects, recovering 27 motor vehicles and one firearm.
Officers participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 30 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, possession of suspected stolen property, burglary, theft, bribery, illegal immigrants, house robbery, pointing of a firearm, common robbery, rape, murder and fraud.

A total of 27 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with eight arrests for the possession of these vehicles.
One unlicensed firearm was recovered accompanying one arrest.
In further policing, 42 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.
Heroine, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.
Investigation continues in all cases.
The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
