According to the organisers, there is no assigned reading, and you bring your book.

Something for avid readers, the Modderfontein Chapter of the Silent Book Club is voluntary, and all events are free.

And they are inviting you to be a part of their community.

SBC members gather in public at bars, cafes, bookstores, libraries, and online to read together in quiet camaraderie.

According to the organisers, there is no assigned reading, and you bring your book.

All readers and all types of reading materials – ebooks, audiobooks, textbooks, comic books, and study materials – are welcome.

Events are free, and participants purchase something to support the hosting venue.

Friends and strangers gather at a set time and location, order food or drinks, share what they read, and settle in for an hour of silent, sustained reading.

At the end of the reading hour, participants may socialise or continue reading.
