Public invited to give feedback on independent power producers – City

The city plans to appoint multiple IPPs for various electricity generation technologies to a capacity of 1 500MW.

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) requests the public to provide input on independent power producers (IPPs).

The city plans to appoint multiple IPPs for various electricity generation technologies to a capacity of 1 500MW.

The appointed IPPs will receive 20-year contracts.

The community and other interested parties may submit comments or representation to the municipality regarding the proposed contract to April.dlamini@ekurhuleni.gov.za and Jabulile.kgomo@ekurhuleni.gov.za
Meanwhile, the CoE will also host physical public participation meetings across all regions of the city as follows:
Northern region, including Edenvale, Bedfordview, Kempton Park, and Thembisa, will meet at Rabasotho Hall, Thembisa, on March 25, from 17:00 to 19:00.

Southern region, including Alberton, Germiston and Boksburg, will meet at the Palm Ridge Hall, on March 26, from 17:00 to 19:00.

Eastern region, including Springs, Nigel, Benoni and Brakpan, will meet at Faranani Multi Purpose Hall on March 27, from 17:00 to 19:00.
