Golden Oldies tee off for charity at 20th annual golf day

The event raises funds for a range of organisations and individuals in need including the Gerald Fitzpatrick Home and Retina South Africa.

The Modderfontein Golden Oldies Community & Hockey Association (GO’s – NPO 281-590) is calling on residents and businesses to support its 20th annual Fundraising Charity Golf Day on Friday, October 3, at Kempton Park Golf Club.

The event raises funds to assist a range of organisations and individuals in need. Beneficiaries include the Gerald Fitzpatrick Home for destitute women in Berea, Johannesburg, Retina South Africa, and the Pathways Stimulation Centre for children with physical and mental disabilities, among others.

Last year, the Golden Oldies donated R100 000 to support little Gracey Stanton, featured in this newspaper, by paying for a carer for several months.

This year, they have already committed R10 000 towards a bionic arm for young Tyra Ray, whose total medical costs are around R800 000.

The GO’s hope to do even more through this year’s fundraising.
