EMPD specialised units arrest 20 undocumented foreign nationals in city-wide operations
The individuals could not provide valid documentation and now face charges under the Immigration Act, with court appearances pending.
EMPD specialised units arrested 20 undocumented foreign nationals across various areas of the city, between September 15 and 21.
Officers made the arrests during law enforcement operations in identified hotspots as part of ongoing efforts to curb the high number of undocumented foreign nationals in SA.
According to the EMPD, the individuals were unable to provide valid passports or satisfactory reasons for not having proper documentation.

Officers handcuffed them and took them to nearby police stations, where immigration services were notified to do further investigations into their ID documents.
The suspects face charges of contravening the Immigration Act and will soon appear in magistrates’ courts in the jurisdictions where they were apprehended.
