EMPD cracks down on illegal hawkers in Kempton Park CBD ahead of G20
EMPD By-Law and Compliance units confiscated equipment from illegal traders during a follow-up operation in the Kempton Park CBD, part of ongoing efforts to keep public spaces clean before the G20 events.
The EMPD By-Law and Compliance units and the Kempton Park precinct officers held a by-law operation in the Kempton Park CBD on November 7.
The action was part of a follow-up operation to one carried out earlier in preparation for the G20.

It focused on illegal street hawkers. Officers visited the corner of Greyilla Street and Voortrekker Road, Park Street, Monument Road, Central Avenue, Pretoria Road, and Oak Avenue, and confiscated items from illegal traders.

These included cooking pots, gas stoves, gas cylinders, black containers, a table, takeaway plates, flasks, trolleys, chairs and a gazebo.
All items were taken to the Kempton Park Precinct.
According to the EMPD, similar operations will continue across the CoE to ensure that public spaces remain clean and safe.
