Thembisa-born artist releases new music project

Thembisa-born hip-hop artist Bongane Shiba, popularly known as Landrose, is ushering in a new era with the release of his latest EP, This Chapter is Personal — a project rooted in honesty, growth and lived experience.

Bongane Shiba, popularly known as Landrose, is a Thembisa-born hip-hop artist who began his musical journey in 2010 and has been steadily climbing ever since.

His career reached a peak in 2020, when he captured the hearts of South Africans with the release of The National Anthem, a track performed in seven languages.

Over the years, Landrose has released four extended plays, including his latest project, This Chapter is Personal.

According to Shiba, the new album draws heavily on personal experiences and is built on honesty at its core.

“I was intentional with this project from start to finish. I believe I’ve created my most cohesive body of work yet, and it reflects my growth as a person and as an artist.

“It’s more like venting honestly. I listen to beats that suit the story I want to tell and make sure they complement each other. When you create from an honest place, writing and producing songs becomes easier,” he explained.

Tracks that stand out for Shiba on the project include I’m Not Giving Up, I Know My Way, Not Anymore, and Time Flies. He describes the EP as a cohesive reflection of his journey.

“I wanted to speak my truth honestly, talk about my reality, and give listeners a musical reflection of where I’m at, how I’m doing, and where I’m going.

“If anyone wants to know me better, they should listen to this project. It offers a real perspective. I speak about internal struggles, things I witness in the world, and the issues I don’t agree with, making sure the message reaches the right audience.”

Landrose hopes his music inspires growth and comfort for listeners navigating similar situations.

“Most importantly, I hope people listen to my music, find the confidence to be themselves in every situation, and embrace their uniqueness,” he said.

The response from fans has been overwhelmingly positive.

“I hosted a listening session prior to the release and the feedback was amazing. I also invested in music videos, EP merchandise, and a media tour to promote the project. It’s all paying off,” he added.

In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Landrose and his team have planned a special experience for one lucky fan.

“We want to show love and gratitude to our supporters. One fan will enjoy a curated Valentine’s date with me, including a Meet & Greet at Edgars Beauty (YSL) Mall of Africa, followed by lunch or dinner and a spa treatment of their choice. This time, it’s my turn to make sure they Smell Their Roses,” he said.

On the new EP, Landrose collaborated with artists including Izzy Jonze, Musical Majur, and Mochen, as well as producers Beatsbydannyb, Lutheking, Theo Henchman, V-Beatz, and Aiden-Lair.
