Laerskool Kreft crowns 2026 Mr and Miss Kreft in exciting school pageant

Vukosi Mongwe and Lethabo Letsoalo were crowned Miss and Mr Kreft Senior 2026, while Esther Edet and Nhluvuko Mpenyane took the junior titles, celebrating talent, confidence and creativity at Laerskool Kreft’s annual pageant.

Laerskool Kreft bid farewell to its 2025 Mr and Miss Kreft Junior and Senior titleholders on March 6 as new learners competed for the opportunity to become the faces of the school for 2026.

Parents, teachers and fellow learners came out in support of the contestants, creating a cheerful and supportive atmosphere throughout the event.

The competition consisted of several rounds, including modelling and question-and-answer sessions, which helped the judges identify the learners best suited to represent the school.

The contestants showed that they not only had confidence on stage but could also think on their feet as they carefully answered the judges’ questions.

Miss Kreft Senior 2026, Vukosi Mongwe, said her passion for modelling began with her dream of one day becoming Miss South Africa.

“Miss South Africa encouraged me to start modelling. That is when I began my modelling journey. I decided to enter the Miss Kreft contest and I won. I want to be Miss South Africa one day,” she said.

Mongwe admitted that she felt overwhelmed during the competition.

“During the competition I felt scared and nervous and I even wanted to cry. When I heard my name being called, I cried tears of joy because this is the first crown I have ever won. I am excited and proud of myself for winning the contest,” she added.

Participants also took part in a runway show where they demonstrated their modelling skills.

One of the highlights of the event was the creative costume round, where contestants wore outfits made from plastic materials, showcasing both creativity and confidence.

At the end of each round, judges eliminated contestants who did not meet the required criteria to proceed to the next stage.

Vukosi Mongwe and Lethabo Letsoalo were crowned the 2026 Senior Miss and Mr Kreft respectively, while Esther Edet and Nhluvuko Mpenyane were named the 2026 Junior Miss and Mr Kreft.

Mr Kreft Senior 2026, Lethabo Letsoalo, said his younger sister inspired him to enter the competition.

“Thanks to my baby sister; she is the one who taught me how to model. Because of her help I decided to enter the competition and I won,” he said.

“I felt scared during the competition because I did not know what was going to happen, but I am very happy that I am Mr Kreft,” Letsoalo added.
