Woman’s body recovered from 10-Metre-Deep Manhole in Pomona

SAPS Water Policing and Diving Services retrieved the body on this morning after passersby made the discovery. An inquest has been opened to determine the cause of death.

SAPS Ekurhuleni Water Policing and Diving Services (WPDS) responded to a scene in Pomona and recovered a body this morning, May 1.

According to communications officer Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, members were alerted after passers-by saw the body of a woman in an approximately 10-metre-deep manhole. Giblin said members responded together with the Kempton Park Fire Brigade.

“The body of the woman was recovered from the manhole using high-angle equipment, and an inquest docket will be opened to investigate the cause of death,” said Giblin.
