Residents raise alarm over growing illegal dumping problem in Kempton Park
Resident calls for accountability for illegal dumping offenders
The rise in illegal dumping in Kempton Park has become a growing concern for residents, with calls for stronger enforcement and visible intervention from the municipality.
Resident Ina Cronje recently witnessed an individual allegedly dumping waste along the fields of Green Avenue, ahead of the Kempton Park Golf Club, on May 15.

Cronje, who regularly uses the route, said she is increasingly frustrated by the condition of the area, which she described as consistently littered with waste.

According to her, the site has become a dumping ground for piles of soil, fluorescent tubes, discarded building materials, bricks and black refuse bags.
“I was so cross just watching this truck dump all this rubbish. Kempton has gotten so dirty over years. It is terrible,” she said.

She added that she is concerned that illegal dumping continues without consequence, suggesting that a lack of visible enforcement may be encouraging offenders.

“We see these things and don’t know where to report them. I don’t know, maybe the municipality should put no dumping boards and fine these offenders because this can’t be where Kempton Park is headed,” she said.

Cronje warned that if illegal dumping continues unchecked, it could have serious environmental and health impacts on nearby residents while further degrading the area.
The Kempton Express reached out to the Kempton Park waste department for comment, but no response had been received by the time of publication.
