Residents demand lasting fix after ANOTHER Norkem Park power outage
"The Energy Department must identify the root cause of these recurring failures and implement a permanent solution."
Residents of Norkem Park and surrounding areas have once again been left without electricity, prompting renewed calls for a permanent solution to the recurring outages.
Ward councillor Desmond McKenzie said the frequency of the power failures has become “almost a weekly occurrence” and described the situation as unacceptable.
“Residents can no longer be expected to endure these repeated power outages,” said McKenzie.
While acknowledging that electrical faults can occur, he said the regularity of the outages points to a deeper problem that requires more than temporary repairs.

“The frequency of these outages clearly indicates that a more sustainable intervention is urgently required. The Energy Department must identify the root cause of these recurring failures and implement a permanent solution instead of relying on temporary repairs,” he said.
McKenzie added that the ongoing interruptions are placing unnecessary strain on both residents and businesses, disrupting daily life and affecting economic activity.
“Residents deserve a reliable electricity supply, and I will continue to call on the Energy Department to take decisive action to resolve this matter once and for all,” he said.
The cause of the latest outage has not yet been confirmed, and residents are awaiting updates on when power will be restored.
