Mandela Day: Ekurhuleni DEMS donates essential items to L and J crèche
The team donated a variety of essential items, including toilet paper, packets of diapers, lunch boxes, first-aid kits, activity booklets, mattresses, and smoke alarms for every room, to improve safety at the creche. Soccer balls were also handed over ahead of the FIFA World Cup final.
The City of Ekurhuleni DEMS, together with various stakeholders and municipal departments, brought smiles to the faces of 50 learners at Thandokazi Pre-School and Creche in the L and J informal settlement on July 18.
The Mandela Day initiative saw DEMS joined by representatives from Provincial Fire Services, the City’s Communication, Marketing and Tourism Department, and several other stakeholders, who dedicated their 67 minutes to supporting the preschool.

In addition to the donations, officials prepared a hearty lunch for the children, while others brightened the school environment with colourful wall drawings and fresh paint.
Thandokazi Pre-School and Creche principal Bellinah Khombani expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the donations and the thoughtful initiative, together with Ward 89 Clr Tshoarelo Pudi.
